First Annual Bahamas World Music & Jazz Festival

Nassau / Paradise Island

The Islands Of The Bahamas will launch the Bahamas World Music & Jazz Festival November 6, 2002 on Nassau/Paradise Island.  The first of the planned annual event will feature a broad range of music including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Latin, Reggae, Calypso and R&B.  The five-day festival will follow the theme, "Exploring Afro Caribbean Cultural Roots" and showcase the talents of local and international musicians.  The British Colonial Hilton, Nassau Beach Hotel, Nassau Marriott & Crystal Palace Casino, Clifford Park and Fort Charlotte are concert venues and tickets for the event are available through the hotels above. 

The inaugural Bahamas World Music & Jazz Festival has attracted an international roster of talent including Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Jonathan Butler, Nancy Wilson, Anslem Douglas and Luciano. This year's festival will also feature legendary artists from Cuba - Company Segundo, Los Papines, Son Damas and Habana Sax.  The spotlight will also shine on homegrown musicians Visage, Ronnie Butler, Abigail Chalow, Treasure, Sensay and the Bahamas National Youth and Gospel Choirs. With more than 700 islands and 2500 cays, The Islands Of The Bahamas offer
vacation experiences as varied as the festival.  From the lively atmosphere of Nassau/Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island to the lush life of the Out Islands, "It Just Keeps Getting Better" in The Bahamas.
