South Beach Wine & Food FestivalFriday, February 28 -- Sunday, March 2, 2003By Madelyn Miller Everyone knows South Beach is famous for its food. But how can you taste the food of all the great chefs and restaurants in just a weekend?
Last year, I learned the secret. The South Beach Wine and Food Festival. I am a food and wine festival junkie and this one can’t be beat. And if the glorious food wasn’t enough you also have the magnificent weather. So between meals and events you can stroll on the beach or window shop in the stores and TRY to walk off some of the calories. And since calories consumed at an event benefiting a worthy cause only count half (isn’t that like the rules that if you eat off someone else’s plate, or while you are standing up), you can feel good about your calories. I’ll drink to that. And plan to again this year A destination weekend event, the SOUTH BEACH WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL, presented by Food & Wine Magazine, will take place in the heart of South Beach Friday, February 28, through Sunday, March 2, 2003, with three full days of spectacular tastings, a star-studded dinner series and wine, culinary and lifestyle seminars that will feature prominent figures in the international wine, spirits and culinary industries. All events are open to the public, and net proceeds will benefit the FIU School of Hospitality Management Teaching Restaurant and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center, located at FIU-Biscayne Bay (N.E. 151 St. and Biscayne Boulevard, North Miami).
