Forever Upgrading

British Airways

by Valerie Summers

I don’t mind the security checks, standing in line and limits to what I can carry on the plane when I fly overseas.  What I do need, however, is a good night’s sleep so when I arrive I am ready to hit the ground running.  BA provides more beds to more destinations than any other airline with 5,000 Club World beds provided to 72 destinations. I have flown British Airways on many occasions and I am pleased not only with the selection of flights available but also with their ongoing efforts to make the flight as pleasant/productive/restful as possible.  Most recently I experienced their new business class seating which I found more comfortable, private and convenient than on past flights.  The 25% wider, ridgeless cushioned seats recline a full 180 degrees so I was assured quality sleep time.  I also appreciated the privacy afforded by the electronically operated dividers between me and my neighbor.

Fellow passengers who could not bear to be without their computer were able to configure their space into a mini office with desk, footrest and laptop locker.  Others used the time to enjoy in flight entertainment which included access to some 100 films, TV programs and games. Hot and cold snacks were available in the Club Kitchen between fine meal service.

With the pre-flight comfort of their First and Club World passengers in mind, British Airways recently opened a new premium airport lounge at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport). I enjoyed exploring the features of the new lounge located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal

which included a bank of plasma screens in the reception area and a relaxing bar.  The facility also features nine shower suites, internet café-style work stations equipped with PCs and buffet areas.  I was offered complimentary refreshments, wifi access, newspapers and magazines in this comfortable, bright, attractive California-design lounge.

British Airways operates three roundtrip flights daily between Los Angeles and London Heathrow Airport where passengers will be in for a real treat with the opening of their state of the art airport terminal. The new terminal will offer a faster, smoother and simpler experience for its customers.   I always appreciate BA’s continuing efforts to increase efficiency and comfort for its passengers.
