along with the hottest dance bands.
Kicking off the series is the venerable, award-winning
composer/vibraphonist Karl Berger and vocalist Ingrid Sertso, the founders
of the legendary Creative Music Studio, performing jazz duets, in a preview
of their new CD of duo collaborations.
The popular high-energy salsa band Mambo Ki Kongo
brings its Cuban sizzle to The Cat on the two consecutive Saturdays, Jan. 24
& 31, with introductory group salsa dance class led by Carlos Osorio, a
native Colombian who is one of the leading lights of regional salsa dancing.
The Latin rhythm continues on the first Saturday in
February, when pianist Peggy Stern, guitarist Peter Einhorn and company
bring their own brand of Samba & Salsa to the dance floor. Peter Einhorn,
a master guitarist well-known for his jazz credentials as well as for his
ongoing work with the NY Metropolitan Opera is highlighted on Valentine’s
Day, Sat. Feb. 14th, when he joins his real-life spouse, vocalist Beth
Abrams for inspired Duet Collaborations!
The Cat begins the first of a series of ARGENTINE TANGO
SALONS, on Sat. Feb. 21, with dinner & dancing, featuring Dario Da Silva,
one of the East Coast’s up and coming dancers, conducting an introductory
group class and Show Tango demo with Tango DJ/dancer Jackie Wong. This is
the first in a series of ongoing Tango at the Cat! Programs.
Rounding out February, The Brian Madden Trio, features
the popular saxophonist along with bass legend Walter Booker (Sarah Vaughn,
Sonny Rollins) and drummer Steve Haas, performing Saturday Feb. 28th.
