San Ysidro Ranch
110th Anniversary as a Boutique Resort
50th Anniversary of John and Jacqueline Kennedy's
Honeymoon Stay
San
Ysidro Ranch, one of the oldest continuously operated hotels in California,
is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year and has announced a special
offer to mark the occasion. San Ysidro Ranch is inviting guests to stay a
third night for $110.00. Guests who book a two-night stay through December
2003 will be offered to stay a third night (Sunday Thursday excluding
holidays) for $110.00.
September 2003 is also the 50th anniversary of John and
Jacqueline Kennedy's romantic honeymoon stay at the Ranch. Whether staying
in the Kennedy Cottage or starting a new romantic tradition in another
favorite accommodation, September at the Ranch is an idyllic retreat.
From its beginnings in 1769 as a way station for
Franciscan monks, to its days as a citrus ranch and finally a guest ranch in
1893, San Ysidro Ranch has made its imprint as a part of California history.
We are privileged to be celebrating 110 years of serving our guests with the
greatest of hospitality and we look forward to introducing the unique charm
of the Ranch to our future guests, says Michelle Taylor, Managing Director
of San Ysidro Ranch.
Opening its doors as a 40 person hotel in 1893, the
hotel has emphasized gracious hospitality, understated elegance and
traditional California comfort in an intimate and luxurious setting, drawing
discriminating travelers and a celebrity clientele from around the world.
Recognized as one of the top ten most romantic destinations in the world, by
the Travel Channel, San Ysidro Ranch has maintained its discreet personal
service and flawless attention to detail that are Ranch hallmarks.
Myth and history mingle in picturesque gardens where
Vivian Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier exchanged vows, in the setting of John
and Jackie Kennedy's honeymoon. The guest registers of the Golden Era
(1935- 1976) are filled with names of Hollywood luminaries such as Cary
Grant, Jean Harlow, Gloria Swanson and Groucho Marx, who flocked to the
Ranch as their Hollywood hideaway.
To this day the original guest register signed by John
F. Kennedy, is one of the Ranch's most treasured keepsakes. The illustrious
Kennedy Suite is a lavish two-bedroom cottage, which includes three
fireplaces, as well as the largest private deck on the property and views
overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands. The living room provides
beautifully bedecked walls and relaxing sofas and armchairs. For over four
decades San Ysidro Ranch has been serving legendary cream puffs to guests
who stay at the Kennedy Suite. Upon arrival, homemade cream puffs from the
Ranch are placed in the cottage in honor of John and Jackie, who legend has
it, requested the cream puffs during their stay at the Ranch.
A member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux
organization, which honors unique, independently owned hotels and
restaurants; the San Ysidro Ranch is located in the exclusive enclave of
Montecito, on over 500 acres in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains.
The property features thirty eight luxurious rooms/suites, many with private
outdoor decks and wood burning fireplaces, a full array of in-room spa
treatments, 17 miles of beautiful hiking and walking trails, lush flower
gardens, two award-winning restaurants and organic chef's garden, and
stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands.
San Ysidro
Ranch has two signature-dining establishments on the property Stonehouse
Restaurant and Plow & Angle Bistro. Guests have a choice of both a fine
dining establishment and a casual bistro setting, which have been favorites
of locals over the years. San Ysidro Ranch also offers special in-room spa
treatments for those who would like to be pampered from head to toe.
