All I needed was someone to lick my body

 Imagine coconut milk swirling around your body in a
warm Jacuzzi, and then having your whole body scrubbed with coconut infused
sugar crystals. Follow this with a warm body wrap, and have your feet
painted with paraffin, and your scalp and face massaged with more coconut
oil.
Sound like a dream or the figment of my imagination?
I only wish I had such a sensuous mind. This delightful
experience was dreamed up by the director of the Pala Spa at Pala
Casino.Resort. Spa located near San Diego. It is called the Ancient Waves
Treatment and it is only one of dozens of decadent offerings.
 The Ancient Waves comes in three signature scents:
coconut, pineapple and starfruit. Although I enjoyed every second of my
treatment, in the spirit of research, I would volunteer my body to
experience the other two any time. This exotic treatment comes from the
islands of Fiji. You start your treatment with a hydrating coconut milk bath
(or flavor of your choice) The coconut milk bath nourishes and rehydrates
dry skin leaving it supple, smooth and revitalized. Once your bath is
complete you will experience a rejuvenating coconut sugar rub. This
extraordinary body treatment will gently buff away dead skin cells, clean
and unclog pores, and restore your skin to a fresh, healthy glow. (and even
if it didn’t do all these healthy things, I would recommend it just because
it felt so heavenly) The treatment ends with a moisturizing body butter
wrap. During the body wrap you will receive a relaxing scalp massage.
If you win at the casino, you will want to pamper
yourself here. If you don’t’ win, it is a wonderful consolation prize
because you can rejuvenate your body and mind at the Pala Spa.
The luxurious 10,000 square foot facility has it all,
including separate men’s locker rooms with outdoor rain showers, power
showers, stream room, sauna and whirlpool.
And an especially nice feature is the fact that each or
the 7 massage rooms also has an outdoor treatment area plus individual
climate and music selection.
There seems to be lots of choices. There is not just
chilled water offered, but tea, and lemon water, and cucumber water and a
pink fruit juice.

At The Pala Spa the professional esthetic team combine sophisticated
techniques, products of the highest quality, and expert advice to help
create a healthy skin care system just for you. After determining with the
esthetician the goals for your skin type, a treatment will be chosen that
best suits your needs. Throughout each the specially designed facials, you
will experience a complete skin assessment, followed by cleansing, toning,
exfoliation, massage, masque, gentle extractions, paraffin hand treatment
and moisturizing. Your pampered skin will glow!
The eighty-minute luxury custom facial also includes an additional masque,

Exfoliating Orange Crush Sugar Scrub
This sugar scrub is the ideal answer to dehydrated
skin. The treatment begins with a mild body cleanser, which is applied by
hand and then gently removed with a warm cloth.
Then the treatment continues with the application of
the orange sugar scrub. Sugar is applied to the body in a circular motion
to remove dead skin cells. After gently removing all of the sugar in the
outdoor treatment shower, you will end this treatment with a warm
application of hydrating body oil. This treatment will nourish the body and
spirit.

Dead Sea Salts, rich in mineral content, are blended
with spicy Rosemary and Citrus essential oils to stimulate circulation and

Sea Tonic Firming Escape
By combining the newest ingredients from France and an
array of treatment techniques, an ultimate anti-aging breakthrough is
unveiled. An active concentrate delivers firming ingredients deep into the
skin from head-to-toe. Then a gel-scrub is applied, and over it we sprinkle
a pure freeze-dried seawater powder to heat and liquefy the firming
exfoliant. Once a massage exfoliates dull cells and promotes active

Water treatments are an age-old tradition. We have
developed one spa treatment that will take you thru an entire spa ritual

with our mosaic body powder that is tailored just for you and your needs.
Then you will be pampered with a full body mask. Once this mask is applied
you will receive a full facial and scalp massage. At the conclusion of your
wrap you will slip into a soothing hydrotherapy tub and relax by

masque is applied to your hair. Once this mask is applied it will provide

Suggestions to Improve your Pala Spa Experience
Shedule your spa appointments one week prior to
visiting the resort for the maximum availability of services and appointment
times. Spa and salon services are guaranteed with a hotel confirmation
number or credit card number.
Allow time to come and utilize the tranquil spa
facilities prior to your treatment. Arrive 30 minutes before your first
scheduled treatment. Arriving late will deprive you of your treatment
time. As a courtesy to the next guest, should you arrive late, your
appointment will end as originally scheduled.
A luxurious robe and spa sandals will be provided for
your use during your stay. For your personal comfort, undergarments may be
worn during treatments. However, therapists are trained on proper draping
procedures to ensure your complete comfort at all times.
Proper athletic footwear, exercise clothing or T-shirt
and shorts are required to use the cardiovascular and free weight room.
As a courtesy to other guests and Pala team members,
please give a 4-hour notice if you must cancel or change any treatment. If
you cancel your appointment within the 4-hour period you will be responsible
for 50% of the treatment cost. Without notification you will be charged in
full. Group reservations require a contractual agreement; please contact the
spa director to book large parties and groups.
Please inform Pala staff of any special needs that may
require extra attention. If you are pregnant, Pala offers a fifty minute
pregnancy massage and custom facial. Pala Spa performs treatments during
the second trimester only. Restrictions include scrubs, wraps, reflexology
or aromatherapy treatments. Using the steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi is also
not recommended during pregnancy. Drinking alcohol is prohibited in the spa
and not suggested before, during and following spa treatments.
All guests must be over the age if 18 years of age to
utilize the Pala Spa and it’s amenities.
Please remove jewelry prior to visiting the spa.
Private safes are located in all guest rooms.
Gratuities are not included in service pricing with the
exception of pre-arranged group bookings and spa packages.

Other delicious things to do
Mama’s restaurant would be worth the drive from San
Diego just for dinner.
The typical Milanese food was hearty and beautifully
presented.

Know before you go
The only serious problem at Pala is phone reception.
The only two carriers whose cell phones work is Nextel and T-mobile. I did
not know this in advance and only gave out my cell phone to people who
needed to reach me. It is nice to get away from it all, but I wish I had
known this before I left.
The mini-bar is set so if you even touch anything in it
you will be charged. If you want to chill the FREE water that is in your
room, call down to housekeeping and they will bring up a FREE separate
mini-refrigerator. I have never had this amenity offered before.
Pala is a good hour from downtown San Diego, even
though its mailing address is in San Diego. If you do not have a car, the
driver from the casino is $75 each way. If is probably cheaper to rent a car
if you are only going for a couple nights.
