Southern Cross Club Offers
Exclusive Wedding Packages

Little Cayman Island Beachfront Resort Offers Newlyweds and Honeymooners Simple, Chic Style at a Sweetheart of a Deal

In a time when understated elegance, downsizing and “less is more” attitudes are becoming more prevalent, the Southern Cross Club Fish & Dive Resort is offering two exclusive “Sweethearts” packages for wedding parties and honeymooners who prefer substance over size. In honor of its 45th Anniversary, the Club’s Wedding Package and Honeymoon Escape are available for a limited time at a sweetheart of a deal. Wedding or honeymoon packages booked at Southern Cross Club for either a four- or seven-night stay between July 1 and December 20, 2004 (or May 1 and Dec 20, 2005) will receive an additional 20 percent off the package price. All guests of the bride and groom will also receive a special “wedding party” discounted rate at time of booking.

Located on Little Cayman Island, the rustic, elegant Southern Cross Club, Little Cayman’s oldest resort, is the perfect location for small, chic and understated destination weddings. The resort features eleven stylishly remodeled beachfront bungalows spread over 900 feet of pristine white-sand beach, spa services, a top-rated professional and certified in-house dive team, an award-winning fishing operation and a four-star quality dining experience. Every year the Club is recognized by Rodale’s Scuba Dive Magazine as one of the Top Ten Dive Resorts in the World, and included on Conde Nast Traveler’s list of Best Dive Resorts.

The Sweethearts’ Wedding package includes: on-site wedding coordinator, local official to perform the ceremony, flowers, wedding cake and a private beachfront dinner for two served with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne. Newlyweds may also request a free upgrade to one of Southern Cross Club’s romantic honeymoon bungalows (based on availability.)

Most Little Cayman weddings are performed on Owen Island (famed for Prince Charles’ well-publicized "afternoon escapes" with Camilla Parker Bowles.)  Weddings on Owen Island offer a romantic sunset ceremony on a beautiful, completely deserted 11-acre island, covered with white sand and palm trees. As the bride walks down a sand aisle lined with queen conch shells, the sun sets over the vast oceanfront landscape. The couple then exchanges vows in a "heart of coconuts.”  The reception party immediately after features a gourmet dinner, served alfresco, under a bright Caribbean moon at the end of the Club’s pier.  All weddings in the Cayman Islands are legally recognized in the United States.

The Sweethearts’ Honeymoon Escape includes: a free upgrade to one of the honeymoon bungalows (based on availability), a private beachfront dinner for two or a gourmet picnic on one of Little Cayman’s secluded beaches, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and guest’s choice of either a professionally-guided fishing excursion, a Discover Scuba diving lesson or two revitalizing massages.

The Southern Cross Club offers many island and sea activities for both the leisure traveler and the adventure seeker such as kayaking, bicycle riding, hammock tending, bird watching, nature touring, sunbathing by the oceanfront fresh-water pool and world-renown diving, snorkeling and fishing. The secluded resort is frequented by a number of well-known celebrities, athletes, international politicians and royalty including Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, NFL Hall of Fame legend Jack Youngblood and Sir Michael Doulton to name a few.

With a mere 10-mile stretch of land, Little Cayman is the smallest of the three islands that make up the British Crown Colony known as the Cayman Islands of the British West Indies. Now home to just 129 year-round residents, Little Cayman continues to be one of the least developed and easily accessible tropical islands in the western hemisphere. Thus, your odds of stepping on a bonefish (or any other finned species) are far greater than stepping on a human footprint.  The lure of the island, besides its seclusion, is in the millions of varieties of fish, the proximity of its dramatic, warm water wall diving and pristine natural barrier reefs. Little Cayman Island was once hailed by Philippe Cousteau as “one of the top three dive areas in the world.”  The famed “Bloody Bay Wall” which plunges 6,000 feet into an underwater abyss, is just a 15-minute boat ride from the resort. A Holy Grail of the scuba world, it is also accessible for those who do not dive, as the drop off starts at 18 feet of water with visibility of up to 200 feet deep.

Basic resort packages start at $870 per person for a four-night stay.  Every package includes all meals, airport transfers, a welcome beverage, use of Club amenities (hammocks, sea kayaks, bicycles, etc.), hotel service charge and government room tax. For reservations and information, please call (800) 899-2582 or visit the resort online at www.southerncrossclub.com
