Sydney Sexpo A record Sydney crowd of more than 60,000 is expected to attend the biggest event of its type in the world – the adult lifestyle exhibition Sexpo.
Sexpo is being held at both the Royal Hall of Industries and the Hordern Pavilion (next to the SCG) from Thursday July 28 to Sunday July 31. “Sydney loves sex, and the event just keeps getting bigger,” notes event founder and organiser, David Ross. “More than a quarter-of-a-million Sydneysiders have been to Sexpo, and last year Sydney played host to our one-millionth visitor Australia-wide.” The Sexpo Sussess StorySexpo travels to three or four major cities each year. The event is the brainchild of David Ross, a motor mechanic who had a near-fatal car accident and invested his insurance payout in a brothel. Sexpo began in 1996 as a forum for women to feel comfortable about buying adult products. The event has expanded into a broad ‘adult lifestyle’ exhibition and maintains strong female patronage (40%+). More than 25,000 women will visit the Sydney 2005 event, and many of them will be the key purchase decision makers. Opening Day (Thursday July 28) has been declared “Ladies’ Day”, with female visitors receiving a special welcome gift and being treated to extra male performances on stage. (For the benefit of parents, a special crèche service operates just outside the venue.) Some of the world’s sexiest will be at Sydney Sexpo, including adult film legend Silvia Saint. Miss Nude Australia Arianna Starr will also be there, along with stage MC and relationships’ advisor Bessie Bardot.
Sexpo exhibitors range from adult products and services, through to holiday clubs, glamour photography, cosmetic surgery, wigs, wine, holidays, de-stress packs, ‘sex furniture’, health information organizations, political lobby groups and much more.
