Chic Pampering in Secluded Mexican Setting

A sanctuary for the senses located in Mexico's Riviera Maya, the intimate Ikal Del Mar Villa Resort is offering its guests a holistic experience in a tropical spa setting with special spa packages. Through December 20th, guests can choose from the three-night Mayan Awakening experience which includes six hours of spa treatments, the five-night Mayan Splendor experience which includes eight hours of spa treatments, and the seven-night Royal Mayan Pampering which includes ten hours of spa treatments. 

Guests can also indulge in Ikal del Mar's full service Mayan Spa's unique treatments, facials and massages influenced by Mayan traditions such as the Mayan Bath, the Mayan massage, the Temazcal Spiritual Mayan Sauna and the new Hammock Massage where the color hammock is chosen according to the guest's desired energy.

The Spa offers a steam room, Jacuzzi, Swiss showers with adjustable water pressure, and individual treatment areas. There is also a sea-side spa area for Temazcal bath, massages, facials, treatments and Yoga. The Temazcal bath combines a cleansing sweat bath with herbs, flowers, music, and a soothing massage. The word Temazcal, in Nahuatl language, is a combination of the words Temaz, meaning bath, and Calli, meaning home. The ceremony was practiced by the Mayans and other indigenous groups as a therapeutic and purifying ritual.

Mexico's Mayan Riviera also boasts one of the world’s most extensive varieties of native herbs. Therefore, their spa treatments offer an excellent combination of natural marine elements with native herbs and aromas.

Ikal del Mar is a secluded refuge carved from the primitive Mayan jungle near the small village of Xcalacoco. To ensure that the resort will blend seamlessly with this undeveloped territory, twenty-nine villas each with a private pool have been carefully constructed from natural wood and stones indigenous to the region.

In keeping with its serene setting, the resort does not allow motorized vehicles on the property. At night, artificial lighting does not dim star-filled skies. Torches, adding to the tranquil ambience of this unique retreat, light the grounds instead. The Ikal Del Mar also believes that because the jungle was here before us and we are intruding upon it, it is only right that paths and walkways carefully avoid older growths and younger trees are allowed to grow within the paths.

The epitome of Mayan chic, all 30 villas at Ikal del Mar were built with mahogany and stone and come with a private pool and palapa roofs. Luxurious touches include a tropical butler, 500-thread count Egyptian linens, and gourmet "Mex-iterranean" cuisine.
