Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa

First New Hotel to Open in Atlantic City in 13 Years

It is announced today that Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa has set Thursday, July 3, 2003, as its opening day, pending the receipt of final regulatory approvals. Borgata, which broke ground in September 2000, is a joint venture development of Boyd Gaming and MGM MIRAGE.

The first new property to open in Atlantic City in 13 years, the 43-story Borgata is the largest hotel and the tallest building in New Jersey. Located at Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City, the $1 billion property presents a destination designed to rival those once found only in Las Vegas, and features 2,002 guest rooms and suites, 125,000 square feet of gaming, 11 destination restaurants, 11 retail boutiques, a 50,000-square-foot-spa, 70,000 square feet of event space, and parking for 7,100 cars.

Designed in classic Italian style, the hotel’s guest rooms and suites range from 700 to 5,000 square feet. Eleven dining destinations include Chef Luke Palladino’s Italian eateries, Specchio and Ombra; elegant Suilan by Susanna Foo; New York–landmark Old Homestead Steakhouse; and Mixx restaurant and nightclub featuring the cuisine of Chefs Edwyn Ferrari (formerly of Nobu) and Aaron Sanchez. Also on-site: Metropolitan Café, Oyster Bar and Gelato Bar; Gypsy Bar; Risi Bisi; B Bar; Borgata Buffet, and Noodles of the World. Banquet and catering facilities are overseen by Executive Chef Ron Ross.

Entertainment options include headline acts at the 1,000-seat Music Box Theater, live bands and music offered at the Gypsy Bar and B Bar, and a vibrant nightclub at Mixx. The 50,000-square-foot Spa Toccare includes a salon, fitness center and Shaving Grace Barbershop. Indoor-outdoor pool and garden, private cabanas, and serene verandas are also on property. Twenty meeting rooms accommodate up to 3,700 guests; the Ballroom offers 30,000-square feet of column-free space. Located in “Via Borgata” are 11 stylish specialty boutiques.
