Hot Summer Tips in Vail
Summer Officially Starts with the TEVA
Mountain Games
Exhilarating whitewater action and exciting on-land
competition comprises the Teva Mountain Games, taking place in Vail June
4-8. Some of the world's best athletes will compete in five sports and 10
disciplines including freestyle and extreme kayaking, kayak and raft
paddlecross, bouldering, speed and dyno climbing, mountain bike trials,
criterion and cross country racing and mountain trail running. Maintaining
its status as an elite whitewater event, the Teva Mountain Games will
feature crowd favorites such as the Teva Pro Rodeo Invitational, the Eight
Ball Sprint, the new Paddler Magazine Extreme Creek Race, and the kayak
paddlecross. The 2003 Teva Mountain Games will build upon the success of
last year's event by featuring competitions between elite groups of invited
athletes while allowing aspiring amateurs to qualify for a limited number of
spots in the pro competitions. In addition to the many athletic events, this
year's Teva Mountain Games will include a mountain photography competition,
an interactive exhibition and demo area, live music and parties. While the
wide variety of competitions will provide ample excitement during the
daylight hours, the night time parties throughout the weekend promise to
become memorable in their own right. The first annual Mountain Ball will
highlight the week's activities, with a stylish celebration of mountain
lifestyle and culture. In addition to the competitions, the Teva Mountain
Games will include the interactive Sport Illustrated Adventure Gear Town
featuring the latest outdoor toys and trends, as well as clinics, films and
exhibitions for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. For more
