"I'll Have What They're Having!!"

Topless Fun Headed to Wild West Wisconsin!

Wisconsin Convertible Classic puts a big smile on their faces...

"Bring your toys. Drop your tops. Play in the road!" is the invitation extended to driving enthusiasts by Gary Knowles and Alex McDonell, Madison, Wisconsin based organizers of the most popular topless auto tour in the USA, the Wisconsin Convertible Classic (WCC). The 11th annual tour will be based in LaCrosse, WI  August 14-17, 2003 and daily tours will cruise through the twisting backroads of western Wisconsin.

"The excitement level of the participants on this tour makes The Fast & The Furious look like an AARP meeting," Knowles explains. "It combines topless cars, backroads drives, great scenery, games, parties and destinations with enjoyable people who know how to travel and love life. It's all about exercising the freedom to drive around and have fun."

"I'll Have What They're Having!" - RUNNING AROUND TOPLESS!

The WCC is a four day, non-competitive tour for any make or vintage convertible or open-air car. It has become known as "the world's greatest open-air auto spectacle". Every tour begins with the command to "start your engines and drop your tops".

Celebrating its 11th Anniversary in 2003, the WCC tour has become so popular that entries are now limited to the just the first 200 cars registered. This keeps the group at a manageable size that can be accommodated in most medium-sized communities and tour through smaller backroads areas with ease. Word of WCC has spread from one convertible lover to another and entrants now come from all over the United States and even occasionally from Japan (they rent cars when they get here).

A FEW SPOTS ARE OPEN -  FREE REGISTRATION KIT

There are still about 20 spots open in the 2003 tour. Anyone interested in joining the run is invited to contact WCC for a free registration kit. Send an e-mail request to OPENAIR@aol.com, phone the tour request line at 608-271-1335 to leave mailing information or send a postcard to WCC, P.O. Box 44781, Madison, WI 53744. The website is www.wiautotours.com. Anyone interested in joining a future tour is invited to submit their name for inclusion on the mailing list. Tours in 2004 will be announced late in 2003.

The 2003 WCC will be headquartered in LaCrosse and tours will run through the hills to the south and east and the north and east. The Friday tour will wind up at Wild West Days in Viroqua with a live concert by the Warner recording stars, Sons of the San Joaquin. The Saturday cruise will head into Black River Country and wind up with the cars on display in the first "Hot Topless Summer Night" concours show in downtown LaCrosse. Working with Classic Hits 94.7 the WCC cars will tune in the station and create the world's largest topless boombox.

The public is invited to view the cars as they grid and head off on tour Friday and Saturday Morning. On Saturday night the group will be on Pearl & Main Streets. The cars will also be stopping at numerous checkpoints throughout the area.

"Convertible people are a special breed," says Knowles. "By nature they're up-beat, friendly, love wind in their hair, like to see the sky and enjoy waving to kids, other cars even cows in the field. They LOVE to be seen. They cruise down the road with music turned up and big smiles on their faces. We've heard folks along the road say,  'I'll have what they're having!' "
