First Annual Telluride Culinary Arts Festival
By Madelyn Miller
I don’t ski, but I sure can eat. And while I would have
to start on the beginner’s slope if I was going downhill, I am an
experienced eater.
So when I learned that this gorgeous mountain village
was planning an event where I could eat, drink and shop for art work, I knew
the time was ripe (or aged as in wines) to visit.
In my older age, I am enjoying benchmarks of things I
have done. And I think it will be exciting to say that I was at the very
first Telluride Culinary Arts Festival. It might start a tradition on my
calendar. And yours.
Telluride Mountain Village will host this decadent
three-day festival throughout its European-style, pedestrian friendly
plazas. In addition to events showcasing celebrity chefs such as John Ash
and Michael Lomonaco, there will be a grand tasting, culinary seminars and a
progressive dinner where guests travel by gondola to the featured
restaurants. The weekend long festival is complimented by an art event
showcasing the paintings, pottery, jewelry, and mixed media from more than
100 local and international artists.
