Pre-Paid Wi-Fi for Travelers EverywhereCNY Ventures announced today that it has launched a new e-commerce website focused on providing pre-paid wireless Internet access from several wi-fi (wireless fidelity) providers. Visitors to www.WiFiMinutes.com will be able to compare and purchase a variety of pre-paid wi-fi access plans from participating providers, and receive their access codes directly via email. Wi-Fi allows travelers to connect their notebook computers or handheld devices to the internet without wires at locations known as “hotspots”, including hotels, airports, bus terminals, cafes, restaurants, and other public access areas. The pre-paid plans offered by the current participating providers, through their own network of hotspots and established roaming agreements; provide access to hotspot locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. “We are focusing on a niche market of wi-fi users who don’t need to purchase monthly wi-fi access, or want to enter into a long-term contract. For just a few dollars, buyers can purchase 60 or 120 minutes of wi-fi access, and, in most cases, those pre-paid minutes don’t expire for at least 60 days. WiFiMinutes will allow those users to compare and purchase pre-paid plans from several providers in one, centralized location,” said Chris Barry, CNY Ventures’ president.
