Uptown Players Presents the Regional Premiere of Regrets Only

In Paul Rudnick's Neil
Simon-esque comedy, the jokes fly fast and furious as the main characters
navigate the complications of modern marriage, friendship and squandered
riches. The action revolves around Jack, a powerhouse attorney (Dennis
Canright), his socialite wife Tibby (Mary-Margaret Pyeatt), and their
fabulously successful fashion designer friend (B. J. Cleveland). The
characters clash over the issue of gay marriage, leading to a drastic
protest arranged by one of them that has consequences for everyone.
Hilariously witty, Regrets Only is ripe with jokes at the expense of the
upper class —taking pokes at plastic surgery, designer fashion and charity
functions. The cast also features Pamela Daughtery as Marietta Claypoole,
Tibby’s much-married mother, Cindy Matthews as Myra, the McCulloughs’ madcap
maid, and Melissa Farmer as Spencer, Tibby and Jack’s daughter, who is about
to be married for the first time.
The production is under the direction of Coy Covington.
The
production runs June 11 through June 27, 2010, with shows at 8 p.m. Fridays
and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. There is a special Thursday night
performance at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24. Performances take place at the
Kalita Humphreys Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd (entrance off Blackburn),
Dallas, TX 75219. Tickets are $25-35 and can be purchased online at
www.uptownplayers.org or by phone at (214) 219-2718.
