Fourth Annual Gospel Spring Festival
Both Ocho Rios and Kingston, Jamaica will be alive with
gospel music from March 15 to 19, when Jamaica’s fourth annual Fun In The Son
Gospel Spring Festival brings together thousands of local, regional and
international attendees. Since its inauguration in March 2002, this upbeat
celebration has rapidly become a favorite event for residents and visitors.
Jamaica Tourist Board’s sponsorship of Fun In The Son is
just part of the overall religious tourism marketing program that continues to
position Jamaica as a premiere destination for unique and diverse experiences.
Fun In The Son is supported by various churches in Jamaica, the Bahamas, the
Cayman Islands, Trinidad, New York, Florida, Texas and Canada.
Speakers at Fun In The Son 2005 include Bishop Henry
Fernandez, Pastor Che Cowan and Minister Carlene Davis. The festival will
culminate with the Grand Concert, which hosts world famous gospel acts and will
be held at the Hope Botanical Gardens in Kingston on Saturday, March 19, 2004.

Commenting on Fun In The Son, David Shields, Deputy
Director of Tourism-Marketing, Jamaica Tourist Board said, “Gospel is an
integral part of Caribbean culture, and the Fun In The Son festival showcases
the best gospel artists who attract a large audience from around the globe.
This year’s programe will undoubtedly be the best yet. Jamaica is proud to be
the host of such a great event.”
The festival is produced by Glory Music Limited, headed by
Tommy Cowan, who has toured worldwide with big-name music stars that include
Maxi Priest, Freddie McGregor and the late Bob Marley.
In addition, Tommy Cowan has hosted the reggae Sunsplash
festival on international tours and also at his home in Montego Bay. Fun In The
Son has flourished under his guidance. “Fun In The Son brings together a
diverse audience. It’s an upbeat, wonderful celebration and we’re thrilled with
its growing popularity as a leading gospel event worldwide,” Cowan observed.
