GEORGE Restaurant Chefs Katie and George Brown, Chef de Cuisine Tim Bevins and GEORGE Catering Chef de Cuisine Juan Carlos Garrido will prepare a delectable five-course menu at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City’s Greenwich Village March 14, 2006.

The dinner will begin with passed canapés and feature Chatham Bay cod, poached lobster, salt-cured foie gras, George’s signature American Kobe short rib and delicious vanilla crème fraiche mousse.  Each course will be paired with select international wines.  As an invitation-only venue for culinary masterminds across the nation, the GEORGE chefs are honored to be preparing a meal at this famous New York brownstone.

“It’s every chef’s dream to be invited to showcase their culinary talents at the James Beard House,” said George.  “We are absolutely thrilled to have this incredible opportunity.”

The James Beard House is named after the late cookbook author and teacher who possessed an encyclopedic knowledge about food.  The champion of American cuisine helped educate and mentor generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts.

James Beard passed away in 1985, but The James Beard Foundation works to celebrate, preserve and nurture America’s culinary heritage and diversity in his absence.  The Foundation also maintains the historic James Beard House as a “performance space” for visiting chefs.  This will be the Brown’s second trip to New York to heat up the kitchen at the James Beard House.  Katie and George took their first trip in 1998 with Kent Rathbun when all three chefs were with Seventeen Seventeen.

“We are eager to return and prepare food from our own restaurant’s menu,” said Katie.  “It’s really exciting to serve a meal representative of our signature style and share a taste of GEORGE with New York!”

GEORGE Restaurant features modern American cuisine complemented by an international wine list served in a sophisticated environment.  Chef George W. Brown, Jr.’s simple style and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients are highlighted by excellent service and a commitment to quality.  Named the Best New Restaurant in Dallas in 2004 by The Dallas Morning News, GEORGE is located at 7709 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75209 and is open at 6 p.m. for dinner only Tuesday through Saturday.  For reservations or additional information, please call 214.366.9100 or visit www.georgerestaurant.com.
