The Art of Sushi in Chocolate

By Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

Imagine chocolate and cookies and sushi. These are my favorite food groups. And now a sushi savy company has figured out how to combine these favorite flavors.

Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi is known for its unique cookie confections designed to resemble popular sushi pieces! These delectable gourmet morsels with a Japanese twist come in a variety of distinctive flavors and sushi shapes that look like they came straight from the sushi bar! These gourmet treats are perfect for those who love chocolate, sushi or both.

Every piece of Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi is made by hand using only the finest ingredients like premium chocolate, crispy rice cookies and candies instead of seaweed, vinegar and rice. Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi confections are combined with exotic flavors like green tea, piña colada, lemon and caramel to make  imaginative desserts.

Order these sweet ‘sushi’ as individual pieces on chocolate plates, or in beautiful multi-piece Bento or Washi boxes. Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi has also given other Asian objects a delightful new twist! Their elegant pairs of Choc Sticks (chocolate chopsticks) are perfect swirled into a rich cup of coffee or hot cocoa and are inlaid with pieces of crème de menthe, mocha bean or strawberry chocolate.

Choose from an inspired and unique ‘sushi’ selection including:

  • Apricot Row (Ikura - Salmon Roe): A crisp rice cookie under rows of apricot flavored “gummi-eggs” then wrapped in dark chocolate.

  • Fruit-O-Maki (Futo Maki – Rolled Sushi): A medley of fruit-flavored pieces, caramel and dark chocolate rolled inside a crisp rice cookie and a dark chocolate wrapper.

  • Great White Sushi (Ebi – Shrimp): A creamy white “shrimp” with a smooth almond filling atop a drop of green tea “wasabi” on a crisp rice cookie.

  • Lemon-Egg (Tamago – Egg) A lemon flavored “egg omelet” with a luscious lemon meringue filling draped over a crisp rice cookie and tied with dark chocolate.

  • Berry Maguro (Maguro – Tuna): A strawberry flavored chocolate “tuna filet” with a milk chocolate hazelnut center and a touch of green tea “wasabi” on a crisp rice cookie.

I love that the chocolates are not mere replicas but flavored with tastes that suggest the original. What is next? Chocolate barbeque? Or Tacos and Tortillas with spicy chocolate flavors?

There is more than fish.

Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi also features traditional, hand-decorated Lucky Cats that aren’t made of wood, ivory or porcelain, but creamy, solid Belgian chocolate! The legendary Lucky Cat is said to bring good fortune!

The newest additions to the Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi line are Kanpai* Cups, chocolate sake cups, which come in four delicious flavors: green tea, strawberry, white chocolate, and dark chocolate marble. Each sake cup is decorated by hand with a finely-detailed floral trim except for the dark chocolate, which is marbled with creamy milk chocolate. “Kanpai!”, pronounced “kom-pi”, is Japanese for “Cheers!” Although tasty on their own, these Kanpai Cups can be used to serve sake, your favorite liqueur or sorbet for a luscious finish to your meal.
