TITAS
heats up the winter months with a presentation of Spain's premier flamenco dance
and music company, NOCHE FLAMENCA, on Friday & Saturday, March 9 & 10, 2007 at
8:00 PM, at SMU's McFarlin Auditorium.
Winner of a 2004 Lucille Lortel Award for Special
Theatrical Experience, Noche Flamenca is nothing less than "a soul-stirring
tour-de-force of theater," says The New York Times. The troupe, that features
live music to accompany the dancers, was founded in Madrid in 1993 by artistic
director Martin Santangelo and his wife, Soledad Barrio, and has since developed
into one of Spain's most successful flamenco companies.
Noche Flamenca's goal is to maintain the essence and
integrity of one of the world's most complex art forms without the use of tricks
or gimmicks. The artists demonstrate the highest standards as well as a profound
understanding of flamenco, and their appearances on previous TITAS seasons were
resounding successes.
