Red Hats and Fun After 50edited by Nan Frient Make way for the women in red and pink hats! Turning 50 can be daunting – here is an opportunity for fun-loving ladies to shed their responsibilities and have an old-fashioned good time. {Insert picture, flush right}
From April 4 to April 6, ladies who have grown up but do not see themselves as too old to play dress-up and have tea parties are invited to join the Red Hat Divas at their 5th annual FUNvention in Port Hardy, British Columbia. A unique feature of the event is that there will be no speakers, no rules and no regulations. This year, Port Hardy goes country. The FUNvention will feature such country-themed activities as learning dance steps to perform on Saturday night and a cowboy hat decorating competition. Other activities include a Queen’s Tea, prize drawings and mingling with the members of the Red Hat Divas of Port Hardy. The Red Hat Divas, one of nearly 45,000 groups that make up the Red Hat Society, is an assemblage of women that come together to celebrate in Port Hardy. The society, which refers to itself as a "dis-organization," is helping develop a fostering network for women over and under 50. www.redhatsociety.com. www.airportinn-porthardy.com (250) 949-9434 |
