Sweet Sleep in a Silo Suite in Oregon’s Wine Country

A unique wine country B&B, Abbey Road Farm, 10501 NE Abbey Road, Carlton, Oregon, has converted three working grain silos into five luxurious guest suites. Amenities such as radiant floor heat, Jacuzzi tubs with separate showers, heated towel racks, Egyptian cotton bed linens and stereo music with CD and iPod/MP3 capabilities are offered.

"We are fortunate to be in the geographic center of 200 wineries and vineyards, and close to celebrated restaurants and boutique wine bars," says co-owner Judi Stuart. "The Willamette Valley offers a quaint rural beauty and is a haven for wine enthusiasts who still want to meet the winemaker or vineyard owner and explore our quiet back roads."

In keeping with the local wine culture, Abbey Road Farm’s AgriVino Wine Center, housed in a restored horse barn, will open in May 2008 for visitors exploring the Willamette Valley. It will feature 56 wines by the glass using an innovative wine preservation system custom designed in Italy.

Gourmet breakfasts at Abbey Road Farm feature ingredients such as bacon and sausage from local Carlton Farms, goat cheese and eggs from the farm’s own dairy goats and free-range chickens, as well as fresh herbs and vegetables from Judi's garden. Some of Judi’s breakfast specialties include Farmer's casserole, blueberry pancakes and asparagus and goat cheese omelet.

Guests who enjoy the pastoral lifestyle are invited to participate in some of the farm chores, such as picking fruits and vegetables in the half-acre garden or milking the resident herd of goats. Or enjoy a stroll through the English gardens or the Royal Anne cherry orchard.

Afternoons and evenings can be spent sipping a glass of local wine around the outdoor fire pit and relaxing on the new deck overlooking vineyards and rolling hillsides.

Abbey Road Farm also boasts event facilities from a small private conference center with DSL internet connection to large indoor and outdoor event centers and the English garden, perfect for weddings, parties and family reunions. “This year we've included a new parlor between the guest suites for people to relax, as well as an outdoor deck overlooking the farm and neighboring vineyards," says Judi. "We also added an outdoor BBQ for private events like weddings, parties and picnics."
