Heineken Hua Hin Jazz Festival

For the coming summer, holiday travelers to Hua Hin,
Thailand’s quaint beachside resort will celebrate its 2nd annual Jazz
Festival, starting 20 to 22 June, 2003.
Titled the Heineken Jazz Festival Hua Hin 2003, more
than 10,000 local and overseas visitors are expected to turn up for the
special summer Jazz Festival, which is being organized by the Hua Hin
Hotelier’s Club in conjunction with other main supporters such as the
Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hua Hin Municipality, Hua Hin / Cha-am
Tourism Association and title sponsored by Heineken.
Says Dirk De Cuyper from the Hua Hin Hotelier’s Club,
“Following the success of last year’s event, and the tremendous feedback we
received from visitors from all over the world, we are delighted and proud
to be hosting our second annual festival. The line up of artists we have is
very exciting with some of the most sought-after jazz musicians due to
participate.”

“The event last year proved to be a hit with both locals and overseas
visitors alike, proving that jazz music is truly an international language.
We are proud to be hosting this festival for the second year in what we hope
will become a long-running tradition.”
Travelers planning their summer vacation in Thailand
this year can look forward to joining the international fiesta as well as
discovering the many delight the country has to offer. Holiday makers are
welcome to the beachside resort of Hua Hin, otherwise known as the Royal
Paradise, to enjoy great jazz entertainment by the beach and near the world
famous wooden train station, whilst savoring choice seafood and other
culinary specials. The weekend jazz event will see a variety of jazz groups
rotating their performances between three stages set in central downtown Hua
Hin.

Hua Hin, IMG, has specially invited a number of top international and local
Jazz acts from Thailand to join in the party. They include musicians from
the US, Germany, Malaysia and Thailand.
Participating Jazz Bands
The jazz groups include Tiempo Libre, a 7-piece band
from Miami which traditionally performs Cuban and Afro-Cuban music. Their
fine performance has turned them into one of the most sought after groups
of musicians during summer Jazz Festival. Steve Thornton will also perform
with his band, Afro Asia, playing Latin Jazz, R&B and Asian fusion Jazz.
Steve is a New Yorker who now lives in Kuala Lumpur and has performed for
big names such as Harry Belafonte, Tracy Chapman and Sadao Watanabe.
Germany’s NU Jazz acoustic quartet, In Touch, along
with Thailand’s jazz supreme Tewan Sapsanyakorn will also lend great
enthusiasm in jazzing up the weekend in Hua Hin. Other groups confirmed to
play include T-Bone, Bangkok Connection, KOH - Mr. Sax Man, Bubbles Jazz and
I.A. (Independent Artist).
Sabai Sabai Jazz Package
Special jazz weekend packages are available from 16 to
22 June, 2003 at $65 per room on weekdays and $90 over the weekend. One
rate is promoted by all resort members of the Hua Hin Hotelier’s Club.
Participating hotels and resorts are Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Evason,
Anantara Resort & Spa, Marriot Resort & Spa and Sofitel . All properties
offer luxurious 5-star accommodation with magnificent views of the ocean and
tropical gardens plus a wide range of facilities and services.
