Beaujolais Wine Festival's 20th Anniversary - a Worldwide Celebration!

Get ready to uncork Beaujolais Nouveau 2003

An estimated 2,000 Texas wine lovers will be among the first to taste the 2003 Beaujolais Nouveau and become part of the world's largest simultaneous Beaujolais wine event and gourmet food tasting.

The 20th Anniversary of the Beaujolais Festival will be held at the Adam's Mark Dallas at 400 North Olive Street on Friday, November 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event is being organized by the French-American Chamber of Commerce Dallas/Fort Worth.

By French Law, Beaujolais Nouveau - a light and fruity red wine known for its history and flavor - is only released from wineries at the stroke of midnight on the third Thursday of every November. In France, this starts a "fete populaire" from the streets of country villages to the heart of Paris. The Chamber has arranged for some of the first cases to be flown in from France in time to celebrate simultaneously with the rest of the world.

Participants at the Dallas event will sample the 2003 Beaujolais Nouveau as well as many other excellent Beaujolais vintages provided by Glazer's Distributors, Republic Beverage Company, Grand Crew, and Horizon Wines.

Corporate Sponsors are: Michael Burns & Associates, Inc.; Accor North America; Credit Lyonnais; Essilor of America, Inc.; American Eurocopter LLC; Evian; EADS Telecom North America; Haynes & Boone L.L.P.; Sandia Imaging; TV5; Air Liquide; Allied International/Daryl Flood Warehouse/Arthur Pierre; Arlette Douffiages-Galland - Honorary Consul of France; Fongrenier Stuart Wine; Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy; Hôtel St-Germain; Richland College; Rexel, Inc.; SDV USA, Inc.; Turbomeca; Frost Bank; Façonnable and Continental Airlines.

In recognition of the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial, Cajun and Creole restaurants for the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex have also been invited to participate in the Beaujolais Festival. Guests will sample delicious food from Antares; Bodum Café & Homestore; Big Easy New Orleans Style Sandwiches; Chaparral; Chez Gérard; Empire Bakery; Gourmet Foods International; Gumbo's; Hôtel St. Germain; J. Pier Restaurant; La Duni Latin Café; La Madeleine; Later Gators and Dakota's; Lavendou Bistro Provençal; Main Street Bread Baking Company; M Grill & Tap; Mozzarella Company; Seafood Supply and The Westin City Center Dallas. Guests can also celebrate with terrific silent auction prizes.

In 1803, Thomas Jefferson and Napoleon negotiated one of the greatest real estate deals in history when the United States purchased Louisiana from France for a cost of less than four cents an acre. The 800,000-plus square miles of land eventually would be divided into all or part of fifteen American States: Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, North Dakota, Texas, South Dakota, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Colorado and Montana.

Advance tickets to Beaujolais 2003 are $49 per person. Tickets at the door are $55. Parties of 10 or more are $45 each. They can be purchased by MC/Visa, AMEX, Diners Club/Discover, cash or check and are available through the French-American Chamber of Commerce. Call 972-241-0111 to order tickets or register online at www.faccdallas.com. Checks can be mailed to: 2665 Villa Creek Dr., Suite 214, Dallas, TX 75234. Every ticket holder will receive a commemorative wine glass to follow and imitate the smelling, swishing, and spitting process known as degustation.
