Winter Pleasures in the Alps
Austria
A skiing vacation in the resorts surrounding the
Tirolean capital, Innsbruck, has been a favorite with visitors from home and
abroad for many years. One of these resorts is Axams.
Axams and its ski mountain, Axamer Lizum:
An Olympic winter sports village amidst Tirol's
glorious mountains, Axams is situated 878 meters / 2,881 ft above sea level
on a wide-open sunny plateau in the heart of Tirol. Only 9 km / 5.5 miles
from Innsbruck, the resort can be reached in 10 minutes by car or bus.
Axamer Lizum (1,633 meters / 5,356 a.s.l.) is the winter sports area with
Olympic runs, cableways and ski lifts. You can ski and snowboard here all
day - every day.
Even non-skiers will have a great time in this winter
wonderland. They may opt for an exhilarating toboggan downhill ride, or a
spin on the ice skating rink. Cross-country skiers glide on forest trails.
Romantic horse-drawn sleigh-rides let winter vacationers forget the cares of
daily life in pristine mountain air.

St. Anton am Arlberg
St. Anton warmly welcomes you!
The World Alpine Skiing Championships were held in this
lovely ski resort in 2001. The giant ski area boasts
83 lifts and gondolas, 260 km / 160 miles of perfectly groomed ski trails
and more than 185 km / 114 miles of fantastic powder runs. You don't have to
take the same lift twice, just go from one mountain to the next on another
lift! Among the most challenging slopes are Schindler, Kar, Galzig, Gampen
and Kapall. The Valluga and the Rendl areas offer everything a skier could
desire.
Situated at 1,304 meters / 4,277 ft above sea level,
St. Anton is a vacation paradise for the whole family. The cozy little town
with 2500 inhabitants has maintained its genuine Alpine ambience and is a
BEST OF THE ALPS resort.
For cross-country skiing there are perfect tracks in
St. Anton and its beautiful surroundings. Like the other sought-after
resorts in the Alps, it boasts a snowboard-park and a half-pipe, toboggan
runs, ice skating rinks, Alpine curling on ice, and horse-drawn sleigh rides
across the white winter wonderland.
