12th International Gay & Lesbian World Travel Expo
Gay Travel Expo boasts 35% growth rate over 2003
Featuring over 135 travel exhibitors, the San Francisco
Expo has grown 35% since 2003, demonstrating an industry segment that has
not only survived economic challenges, but has thrived. New to this year's
Expo include gay-welcoming Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington and the
Portuguese National Tourist Office, and tour operators serving Costa Rica,
France, Asia and the Patagonia region of South America.
"In today's very uncertain travel industry, gay tourism is again attracting
attention as one of the most viable and resilient markets," said David
Paisley, Production Manager of the Gay & Lesbian World Travel Expo division
of Community Marketing, Inc.
Attendees may explore gay-specific travel opportunities such as Atlantis
Events, cruises and tours as well as gay-friendly tour operators and local
travel agencies. Gay-friendly airlines, cruise lines, hotels, and rental car
companies round out the exciting 4-hour gay world tour.
"We're delighted. Our 2004 Expo series far outdistanced our very successful
2003 season," Paisley said, "Our goal is to bring a rich, fun, educational
opportunity to gay and lesbian travelers, and give something back to our
community every year."
Sponsors of the 2004 series include The Out Traveler, American Airlines, and
the Travel Alternatives Group.
