A Great Gift for a Grandma, or Anyone Else Who Loves to Take Pictures
By Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady
If someone had asked me to name the great inventions
that changed my life, I would probably have said the microwave oven, the
computer, disposable diapers, and digital camera.
But my most favorite new thing is an Epson Ultra
Hi-Definition Printer. Talk about instant gratification. I can take a
picture of the adorable Hudson Rex Miller and have a picture in moments. And
I can even blow it up bigger than he is. (and his grandmother's eyesight is
not as good as it once was)
Imagine going to visit someone, taking pictures and
then being able to give them prints almost immediately. With a baby, things
change so fast, that if you waited for developing and printing the
old-fashioned way, you'd be way behind.
Or at a party or family gathering, you can snap
pictures and then give people prints to take home.
And frugal grandmother that I am, I love how cost
effective it is. And easy, thank goodness. Because I could not wait to get
pictures of my grandson.
The
printer I’m talking about is the Epson Stylus Photo RX580 an all-in-one
photo printer, scanner and copier. The Epson RX580 offers a variety of
convenient and user-friendly features, such as automatic photo correction,
which automatically adjusts improperly lit photos and corrects skin tones
for better-looking prints (not that my perfect grandchild needs any
correction, but perhaps his grandmother could use a little retouching).
It's like having a trained photo lab technician inside the printer. (sort of
like my own personal 24 hour developer) It even prints directly on ink jet
printable CDs and DVDs, which means no messy labels.
A key component of the new product line is Claria ™
ink, (sounds like a good name for a granddaughter, just hinting). Claria
inks provide the ultimate combination of photo quality and longevity for
smudge, scratch, water, and fade resistant prints that will last even longer
than lab photos. And I don't have to rush to the drugstore in the middle of
the night to get one-hour prints.
Whether you’re printing photos of your grandson (my
favorite!), making an album or scrapbook of a recent trip or making this
year’s holiday photo greeting, the Epson RX580 helps you scan, copy and
print beautiful photos and projects at home. It has so many great features,
including the following things I haven’t even mentioned yet:
-
Photo Quality Scanning: Scans everyday documents,
receipts, photos, and more with 48-bit, 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution; also
scans directly to PDF, a memory card or Flash drive
-
Restoring and Reprinting Photos: Easily restores the
color to old, faded and/or badly exposed images with or without a computer
using its one-click Color Restoration feature; enables users to crop or
enlarge pictures or change a color photo to black and white
-
High Quality Copies of Photos and Everyday Documents:
Convenient PC-free copying feature enables users to duplicate
high-resolution, borderless black and white or color photos, and quickly
make copies of everyday documents up to 30 copies per minute
-
Customized Photo Greeting Cards: Allows photo
enthusiasts to create their own photo greeting cards without a computer;
simply select a favorite photo from a memory card and combine it with
customized text and designs using the scanner
I haven't learned to do all these things yet, but I promise
to have them mastered before Hudson is sitting up.
So I could brag on and on about my grandson but you might
be more interested in the Stylus Photo printer. It’s available through the
Epson Store (www.epsonstore.com).
In
addition, Epson has recently announced the latest generation of its Ultra
Hi-Definition line, including the Epson Stylus Photo RX680, the top of the line
Ultra Hi-Definition all-in-one. The new Epson RX680 uses the same Claria inks
as the Epson RX580 to produce the same high-quality images, but at even faster
speeds! It also includes the same great features as its predecessor, and more.
The Epson RX680 has two paper trays so users don’t have to constantly switch
between photo paper and plain paper if they’re using both types for different
projects. It also offers duplex printing, which enables you to print on both
sides of the paper (particularly helpful when creating greeting cards with your
grandchild’s adorable face on them). This newer model can also be purchased
through the Epson Store – it’s that easy!
