For the 95th year, Newport Beach will host its annual Christmas Boat Parade December 17 through December 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Set on Newport Harbor, the parade, which has been hailed by the New York Times as one of he top ten holiday happenings in the nation, draws more than one million spectators each year. Featuring multi-million dollar yachts, two-person kayaks, electric Duffy boats and other watercraft, the parade brings holidays to the harbor with up to 150 vessels playing festive music, displaying dazzling lights and re-creating popular Christmas scenes. Also a tradition, the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort will host its 10th annual Lighting of the Bay on Friday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. Guests will watch the bay sparkle with thousands of lights on floating trees. Fashion Island, Newport Beach's premier open-air shopping center, kicks-off its holiday season on November 21 and November 22 at 6:00 p.m. with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The breathtaking 115-foot live white fir Christmas tree will glow following a song and dance spectacular titled "Holiday of the Arts" performed by local students and produced by Tony Award nominee Susan Egan.
