Wacky Rollers Adventure Park
Dominica’s Newest Eco-Adventure Option
Adding a new and exciting element to Dominica’s already
diverse eco-tourism offerings, the Dominica Tourist Office has announced the
development and opening of the Wacky Rollers Adventure Park.
Scheduled to open in November 2004, the Park will be a
world-class nature tourism facility, not to mention a novel activity,
consisting of a system of platforms, cables and trails, both athletic and
leisurely and of varied difficulties for all skill levels, laid out in
harmony with the natural environment. Participants will advance from tree
to tree via suspended platforms that are connected by cables and
incorporated into the trees in the forest, crossing over varied formations
of footbridges, zip-lines and even a Tarzan jump, all of which has been
integrated into the landscape.
For families interested in visiting the Park, a
children’s park for kids 4 years and up with a wading rock pool will also be
offered. The Park will offer both entertainment and educational
opportunities along with a picnic area near the Layou River for local or
sleep over groups who may wish to extend their stay for the day or even
participate in other activities such as tubing or kayaking.
“Recently we have seen a growing interest in returning
to nature and to an active lifestyle in concurrence with a boom in natural
and athletic tourism,” said Sharon Pascal, Dominica’s Director of Tourism.
“As the first and only such park in the Eastern Caribbean, the Wacky Rollers
Adventure Park will augment the Island’s positioning as an eco-tourism and
adventure destination, fill the need for more family-oriented activities and
give Dominica’s international marketing efforts a further boost, creating
yet another reason to visit the Island.”
The Park will be operated by WRAVE (Wacky Rollers
Adventure Vacations & Expeditions) Ltd., a company based in Dominica that
started with a jeep safari tour in 1999, and then added River tubing
followed by a River to Ocean Kayaking adventure, the only such activities in
the Eastern Caribbean. WRAVE Ltd. is also the only operator in Dominica
that offers a land and sea tour, through an alliance with Dive Dominica
described as Dominica’s Hot Spots. For more information on the Wacky
Rollers Adventure Park call 767-235-6264 or email

The independent nation of Dominica (pronounced
"Dom-in-eek-a") is located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and
Martinique in the Eastern Caribbean. The largest and most mountainous of
the Windward Islands, Dominica encompasses an area of nearly 290 square
miles. Of volcanic origins with mountains reaching heights of nearly 5,000
feet, rainforests that are considered among the last true island-based
rainforests in the world, more than 365 rivers, waterfalls, boiling lakes,
and pristine coral reefs, Dominica’s natural diversity is truly unique.
Dominica is also home to the last remaining settlement of the Indigenous
Peoples of the Caribbean – The Carib Indians.
A place where man and nature live in harmony,
adventurers and nature lovers alike will revel in the Island’s eco-tourism
options which include scuba diving, snorkeling, mountain biking, kayaking,
horseback riding, nature tours, hiking/trekking, whale, dolphin and bird
watching, sailing and fishing.
