Messina Hof Takes the Grape at 2005 Grapefest
Brazos Valley Winery is the Most Awarded Ten Years Running
Tens of thousands of people cast their vote for their
favorite wines at the 2005 People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, the largest
consumer-judged wine competition in the nation, and once again Messina Hof came
out on top as the most awarded winery chosen by the masses.
Messina Hof won medals in all four of the categories in
which it entered wines, and took “Best of” medals for:
-
GOLD: Best Chardonnay-Messina Hof Private Reserve
Chardonnay 2003, also a Reserve Champion at the 2004 Houston Livestock Show
& Rodeo International Wine Competition
-
GOLD: Best White Varietal, Sweet-Messina Hof Angel Late
Harvest Johannisberg Riesling, a sweeter version of our popular
Johannisberg Riesling, was also a Champion wine at the 2004 Houston
Livestock Show & Rodeo International Wine Competition
-
GOLD: Best Red Proprietary Blend – Paulo Meritage 2002,
a Gold winner at the 2005 Taster’s Guild International and the 2005 Indy
International Wine Competition
-
BRONZE: Red Varietals- Messina Hof Private Reserve
Shiraz 2004, which was most recently named the Grand Star Winner of the 2005
Lonestar International Wine Competition
This year’s medals give Messina Hof a ten-year record as
the most-awarded winery of the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic. Grapefest
is the largest wine festival outside of the Sonoma and Napa regions.
More than 240,000 people attended Grapefest this year and
thousands, both wine novices and connoisseurs, voted on 117 wines from 33
wineries. This is the 19th annual event, and the People’s Choice competition has
grown to accommodate almost three full days of wine tasting.
GrapeFest is named as "One of the Top 100 Events in North
America" by the American Bus Association, and is listed as a "Top 20 Wine Event
in the Nation," in Wine Tasting and Touring magazine's Fall 2005 issue.
