Ford F-150 Lariat King Ranch 4 X 4

By Rita Cook

When it comes to driving a full-blown, get down and dirty truck, I thought I’d never do it.  Guess what?  There are some trucks that even a woman can love.  I did a double take when I got the Ford F-150 Lariat because it looked so much like the Lincoln LT, but the King Ranch edition made it different in an upscale cowboy sort of way.  I liked it, albeit it is another luxury vehicle in a testosterone-wrapped package.  I really could see myself herding cattle with this thing – in the comfort of the AC, of course.  It holds up to six passengers with hardly a sigh and it is available in five trims.  I was also duly impressed when I read that this vehicle was the only one in it’s class to get the NHTSA’s five-star rating for driver and right-front-passenger safety.  The Ford F-150 Lariat offers three cab choices, three box lengths, two box styles and five unique series, and the pickup has four doors too, go figure, oh the choices.

What You Need to Know: First off, the power behind the machine is the standard 4.6-liter, V-8 engine with 231-horsepower.  You can get the 20-inch wheels on the King Ranch.  SIRIUS Radio is another option with this vehicle so play it loud as you drive around town.

Miles per Gallon: Okay, again not for the cheap at heart because we’re talking 15 mpg in the city and only 19 mpg on the highway.  Everything can’t be perfect.

Price Tag: With another price tag that starts in the 30’s you won’t get the King Ranch edition unless you’re willing to pay in the 50’s so just go for it.

Female Factor: Strong enough for a man, but can easily be made (and used) by a woman.
