Lincoln Mark LT

By Rita Cook

Someone referred to this truck as the James Bond of pickups and I would say that was definitely true.  At first I was a bit intimidated by the size, but once I got used to it I was making excuses to drive everywhere.  The pickup is also good for going where no man has gone before – that is four-wheel driving wherever your heart desires, even I did it.

This top-of-the-line baby comes with the best and that means leather seat both front and rear and French-style pleating.  The dashboard too is unique in that it is a combo of both leather and chrome and right in the middle is genuine ebony wood.  Who could ask for more creature comfort than this little Lincoln offers?

What You Need to Know: Chrome everywhere is about seeing and being seen.  The 18-inch seven or eight-spoke wheels mean business and the V-8 engine makes the wheels work extra hard right from the get go.  In fact, it’s a 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission.  With all that said and done it weighs in at 5,370 pounds oh, and then there is the 3000 horsepower at 5,000 rpms.

Miles per Gallon: It’s a big “ouch” with 14 miles per gallon in the city and only 18 on the highway, but the ride will make you forget gas prices anyway.

Price Tag: This truck can start in the $30,000’s, but here again I drove the best-of-the-best model for well over $50,000. If you want the best Lincoln has to offer in this vehicle then don’t scrimp and go for the high-end package.

Female Factor: While it was big on first sight, it grew on me because it drives so darn well that even a woman can handle it with ease.
