Woman on Wine
2001
Campo Viejo Tempranillo, Rioja
A big, berry-flavored wine that finishes with a little spice, this is the
perfect party wine. $
2004 St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley
A pretty wine, its sexy passion fruit aromas are its finest draw. Although it
lacks that zingy acid that makes Sauvignon Blanc so thirst quenching, this wine
has a creamy texture worth diving into. $$
1996 CVNE Vina Real Crianza, Rioja
This is the kind of wine to drink with a meal. Flavor-rich but not
overpoweringly flavorful, it has a tomato jam and other vegetable notes that
will make you ready to settle in for a long gastro-orgy of great food and wine.
$$$$
2002 Grove Mill Chardonnay, Marlborough
Like a bouquet of wildflowers, this wine hits the senses with aromas and flavors
not dissimilar to rose petals, violets and grape blossoms. It makes for a very
sexy mix indeed. $$
2002 Pine & Post Shiraz, Washington
This could be the bargain of the year. Although a fairly simple wine, for under
$10, you could never ask for more delicious blueberry and bramble aromas and
flavors. This is a house wine for every home. $
2003 Kathy Lynskey Merlot, 15 Rows Reserve, Marlborough
Light on the tongue, this wine dances in the mouth with flavors of blueberry and
vanilla. $$$
2002 Nickle & Nickle Cabernet Sauvignon, Branding Iron
Vineyard, Oakville
Complex and curiously spicy, this wine will bring it to any meal with a subtle
medley of caramel, clove red currant and red pepper. $$$$
2004 Palliser Estate Pencarrow Sauvignon Blanc,
Marlborough
Leafy, grassy and tinged with acidity just the way a good New Zealand SB should
be, this is the flirty kind of little wine to make the mouth water. $
2002 Baglio di Pianetto, Piana dei Cemball Nero d’Avola,
Sicilia
Fine grain tannin gives this wine a little texture while its tease of flavors,
including tart cherries and crème brulee keep it blissfully bright and light.
$$$
Miner Family Vineyards Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir,
Santa Lucia Highlands
Toasted aromas brand this wine with the winemaker’s mark of charred oak, but the
flavors smack of pure pinot noir, dark cherry, tomato jam and a sense of
terroir. $$$
$ under 15USD
$$ 15-25USD
$$$ 25-50USD
$$$$ over 50USD
