Gather your Gal Pals for a great getaway!

Girlfriend getaways are the hottest way to travel this summer and Winter Park Resort has plenty to keep you and your gal pals going.  Whether for a weekend or for a full week, this is one vacation that is sure to refresh and reenergize the spirit.

Planning your arrival to Winter Park can be half the fun.  Reserve a sleeper car on Amtrak’s California Zephyr or pack up the car and cruise Interstate 70 to Hwy 40.  Both offer amazing views of the Continental Divide, jagged mountain peaks, and wildlife.  Prepare to be treated to Mother Nature’s grandest of works- our sunrises and sunsets (we call it alpenglow).  You have never seen color like this before.

One of the benefits of a girl’s getaway is the opportunity to try something new.  Use this trip as an opportunity to challenge yourself.  Try a whitewater rafting trip down the Colorado River, scout out the many varieties of local wildflowers, or set out to climb Byers Peak, our valley’s tallest mountain.  Thrill seekers should ride the Zephyr Express chairlift at Winter Park Resort to access over 50 miles of mountain biking trails ranging from easy riding to you have got to be crazy!  Add this to the over 600 miles of interconnected mountain biking trails in the valley and you have got yourself a good time.

We could all use a little pampering, so for those gals looking to relax and indulge a bit after a hard day at play plan to make way to one of the local spas.  A visit to Devil’s Thumb Ranch or Hot Sulpher Springs is the ultimate in luxury.  Both offer a wide variety of spa treatments including relaxing soaks and scrubs with front row views of the surrounding mountain peaks.  Indulge your taste buds with a wine tasting at two of our local wineries- Verso Cellars and Winter Park Winery.  Both work with local caterer’s to provide appetizers or desserts while you sample.  Or stop into any Winter Park and Fraser Valley restaurant for a meal that will give you something to write home about.
