GOLDEN EAGLE MIGRATION
The Golden Eagle soars
through the Valley of Adventure during its ancient migration journey each
spring and fall. Long known to the people of our First Nations, the Golden
Eagle flyway has only recently been re-discovered in Kananaskis, Alberta,
Canada.
With
a wingspan of over two metres, the Golden Eagle navigates itself at speeds of
up to 150 kilometres per hour with legendary dexterity.
Discovering
more about the Golden Eagle’s flight can be a rich and satisfying experience at
Delta Lodge at Kananaskis. March and October weekends are a plethora of
information with Bruce Bembridge, Field Naturalist as your guide.
Bruce
will discuss this fascinating event, unique to Kananaskis Country, during
Friday night’s ‘Eagle Talk’. On Saturdays, take your newfound knowledge out to
the sports field with Bruce and personally witness this wonder. Science, myth
and metaphor will cross paths as you explore your connection to the Golden
Eagle.
This
eagle watching festival is just one portion of our Mountain Heritage program.
The goal of the program is to foster an appreciation for the nature, history,
and culture of the Canadian Rockies.
During
the months of March and October, Delta Lodge at Kananaskis welcomes you as a
spectator to one of nature’s greatest shows on earth! You’ll find The Lodge at
Kananaskis nestled in the wilderness just 100 kilometres (60 miles) southwest
of Calgary and 85 kilometres (48 miles) southeast of Banff. For more
information, please call 1-800-268-1133, or visit www.deltahotels.com.
