AN UPWARDLY MOBILE GRAPE FROM DOWN UNDER
By Madelyn Miller
Will Australias Cranswick Estate help the unique Semillon Grape join
the Single Grape Society?
The best selling Cranswick wine in Australia, Cranswick Estate Semillon
Chardonnay is poised to move the hearty Semillon grape beyond its silent
partner role, into the limelight. The naming of the Semillon grape on
new labels (teamed with Chardonnay) could herald its entrance into the
Single Grape Society.
Pleasantly round in the mouth and fruity, with a hazelnut accent to
pear, peach and even melon flavors, Cranswick Estate Semillon Chardonnay
is a particularly good partner to seafood and Asian dishes.
Delightfully refreshing, Cranswick Estate Semillon Chardonnay could be
the perfect Spring & Summer wine for the Out-Back-yard!
The unique grapes used in Cranswick Semillon Chardonnay can be found
on Australias second largest wine growing region - The Riverina - often
referred to as Australias "Garden of Eden." It is the largest wine
growing region in New South Wales, producing the highest volume of
premium varietal fruit of any major inland grape growing region in Australia.
The Cranswick Estate winery was built in 1976 and is one of the most
advanced winemaking facilities in Australia. This award winning Semillon
(it received the trophy for Best Riverina Semillon for the past three years)
is oak aged after fermentation in roasted American oak barrels, enhancing
its strong balance, full flavor and clean acid finish.
Cranswick Estate Semillon Chardonnay retails for about $7.00-$8.00. For more information about South Australia -
