GREAT SNOW IN
MONTANA THIS WINTER
Although it hasn’t been a
white winter this year, Montana remains the exception. Skiing conditions are fantastic in Glacier
Country, a region of Montana made up of the eight most northwestern counties.
It’s also home to seven ski resorts, including Big Mountain and Black Tail in
the Flathead Valley, Snowbowl and Marshall in Missoula, Lost Trail in the
Bitterroot Valley, Turner Mountain in Libby, and Lookout Pass located on the
border of Montana and Idaho.
Current conditions and ski
reports are as follows: The Big Mountain, with a base of 55"-84" has
powder and packed powder surfaces. Blacktail Ski Resort has a base of 56",
with
surfaces being powder, packed
powder and machine groomed. Lookout Pass has 76"-114" for a base,
with machine groomed, powder and packed powder surfaces.
Lost Trail Powder Mountain,
with a base of 90" has all powder surfaces. Marshall Mountain has a base
of 33"-55" with machine groomed, powder and packed powder surfaces.
Montana Snowbowl has a base of 42"-72", also with machine groomed,
powder and packed powder surfaces. Turner Mountain, with a base depth of
30"-50", has both powder and packed powder surfaces. (This
information changes on an hourly basis.)
On Montana's downhill ski
slopes, you'll be treated to plenty of snow, trails and space.
The downhill areas offer
lessons for beginners as well as pros. Snowboarders and telemark skiers are
welcome at every Glacier Country ski area. Some winter wonders to be witnessed
include the area's mountains, forests, lakes and wildlife and the friendly
people,
Instead of waiting for the
snow to come to you, why not come to the snow in Glacier
