Hidden Arizona

By Dave Shultz

Hidden Arizona is one of Ulysses Press Travel Book series that offers serious, no nonsense travel information you can use.  The ‘Hidden’ series of travel books devote their energy to factual information both on and off the beaten path.  You won’t find slick pages with full color photographs but you will find in-depth reporting about the things that make travel easier.  There are lots of useful maps and Hidden Arizona is broken into general statewide information as well as landscape and history sections.  The Grand Canyon is covered in detail and then the rest of the state is covered in six regional areas.

Detailed coverage includes topics like . .

  • Driving Notes

  • Traveling With Children

  • Gay and Lesbian Travelers

  • Women Traveling Alone

  • Disabled Travelers

  • Senior Travelers

  • Foreign Travelers

The six regional sections include the sights you would expect in a travel guide including lodging, dining, shopping, night life, and parks, but all through the guide you will find inserts marked with a ‘Hidden’ tag and this alone is worth the price of the book.  These are travel gems about things off the beaten path.  Things the normal tourist would overlook.

The Hidden Arizona book is long on information and short on hype.  If you plan on staying home and reading travel guides by the fire, there are plenty of books that will provide you with vicarious travel thrills but if you plan on actually exploring an area, you can’t go wrong with the Ulysses Press books.

You can purchase Hidden Arizona from Amazon.com.
