Summer in Jasper lures visitors from around the globe to its rugged peaks and lush green valleys.  When the globe trotters trot home, Jasper remains with some special delights reserved for the autumn.  Adorned with the ambers and golds of the changing leaves the mountains take on a new character. The rich hues accentuate the warmth of the day but the evening cool signals the wildlife to leave the higher meadows behind and return to the valley floor.  For the autumn visitor, wildlife viewing opportunities are at their best Elk and big horn sheep by the dozens are frequently sighted, along with the chipmunks, squirrels, and bears that make the valley floor their home.

Autumn in Jasper still offers many of summer's favorite activities. Of course the scenic "must sees" are still there. Goat Lookout will likely be crowded with traffic of the four-legged variety. The Athabasca and the turbulent Sunwapta Falls will be flowing image of the peaks on the lakes during a still afternoon are yours to enjoy. Many other activities are in full swing in fall, one of which is golf. The Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course is a par 71, and will be open through October. Hiking, too, remains popular in the autumn. Guided horseback trail rides and bicycle rentals are available if you care to take to the trail by means other than your own two feet. For a unique experience venture onto the Columbia Icefields on an enclosed and heated Brewster Snocoach.
