SPA RELIEF IN ST. LUCIA

Men and women both chose massage as their favorite spa treatment followed by a sea salt wrap for women and a facial for men, according to a recent Spa Report from the Jalousie Hilton Resort & Spa on St. Lucia.  The spa is the newest and most comprehensive on St. Lucia and possibly the largest in the Caribbean.

The reports revealed that the top three reasons women seek spa treatments are to relieve stress, sore muscles and depression.  The top reasons men seek spa treatments are for their sore muscles, stress, and curiosity.  The main reactions to the treatments for both men and women are relaxation and sleep.  Women are generally more relaxed than men who are often self-conscious or at least not totally relaxed.  Because of their self-consciousness men tend to talk more during treatment.

The Spa at Jalousie, one of the largest spas in the Caribbean, is located on a rainforest hilltop high above the main resort buildings.  There are seven treatment rooms, a spacious, air-conditioned fitness and aerobics room, and an outdoor massage area called "The Edge."  A Sun Splash Deck and a plunge pool provide dramatic views of the emerald green Petit Piton and the tranquil waters of Jalousie Bay.

The Spa at Jalousie offers daily treatments including a variety of massages, facials and skin care treatments, body scrubs, body wraps and facials masks.

  • "For Men Only"-Treatments include the intense back massage and back cleansing treatment, the gentleman’s facial, a sports manicure and pedicure, a deep foot massage and a sea salt body scrub.

  • “Surf & Turf"- Includes diving and spa treatments.

  • “The Arts Center"- Guests are encouraged to draw, paint, write, and express themselves creatively, taking inspiration from Jalousie’s breathtaking setting.

The 114-room Jalousie offers 12 Sugar Mill Rooms situated opposite the resort’s secluded beach and near the ruins of an 18th-century sugar mill. It also includes 65 Villas and 37 Villa Suites--each with a private plunge pool, clustered on the lush rainforest hillside overlooking the bay.

The resort features four dining venues located by the bayside, poolside, beachside, and in the Great House. Cocktails, against a backdrop of the magnificent Jalousie Bay sunset, are served in The Great Room and The Palm Court.

The resort has a dive center with PADI instructors, four tennis courts under the direction of tennis pro Vernon Lewis, ranked number one on the St. Lucia Davis Cup team, and a family Learning Center where kids spend quality time absorbing the wonders of volcanology, marine biology and the local rainforest.

Other recreation facilities at Jalousie include a beachside swimming pool, snorkeling, water-skiing, windsurfing, Hobie Cats, jeep rentals, hiking, squash, basketball and racquetball, and a 3-hole, par-3 golf course.  Island highlights include waterfalls, sulfur springs, botanical gardens, and arts and crafts markets.
