KINGFIELD SERVES UP MUD,
MUSIC AND MERRIMENT
Kingfield,
Maine Hosts the
Kingfield Days Celebration July 21-23
Music, mud and merriment will mark the annual Kingfield
Days celebration, July 21 through 23. Highlights include a doll carriage and
bicycle parade for young kids, a street dance for teens and an old-fashioned
ice cream social for everyone. Sports enthusiasts can take in one of the
messier events: Mud Football. This is a highly competitive game of touch
football played on a field the fire department makes sure is well-watered and
churned to produce maximum amounts of mud. There will also be a truck-pulling
contest, the crowning of Miss or Mrs. Kingfield--always a senior citizen who
has contributed to the community--and the Grand Parade. Don't be surprised to
see Frank Sinatra, Elvis or the Beatles roll through town as ingenious locals
conjure up floats to meet this year's parade theme, "Music through the
Years."
