Scavenger Hunt Announces Destination
Explorer Quest 2000 - The International Scavenger Hunt,
scheduled for August 2-15, has announced this year's race will begin in
Guadalajara, Mexico. Adventurers, backpackers, and even suitcase-toters are already
preparing for the event, which covers more than 930 miles (1500 km)
Prospective participants from North America, Europe, East
Asia, Australia, and New Zealand are expected to attend, but only 650
contestants will be accepted. The first through fourth place winners will share
$15,000 in prize money.
"The Explorer Quest 2000 is a unique event for
travelers. It's for anyone with a
spirit for adventure; especially those who envied Indiana Jones and James Bond
in their youth but never thought there was a way to fulfill their adolescent
(or adult) dreams," said Michael Williams, founder of Explorer Quest.
Williams, who has been globe-trotting since age 11. He added, "This race
is actually a realization of my own wish to be a world explorer on some exotic
mission. Unfortunately, I still can't
'go on a mission myself, but I've made it a reality for anyone else that has
similar desires."
Explorer Quest is a U.S. based organization whose goal is
