See Europe the Sweet Way with La Dolce Via!

Mountain Travel Sobek’s New Biking & Walking Division

In Europe, living well is nearly an art form. Italians call it la dolce vita “the sweet life.” This relaxed, unpretentious way of living also characterizes Mountain Travel Sobek’s new biking and walking programs in Europe, a recently formed division of the adventure company that has been aptly named La Dolce Via.

Mountain Travel Sobek employees Massimo Prioreschi and Paolo Balduzzi, directors of the new La Dolce Via, have years of experience, and a passion for exploring Europe by bike with some of the world’s finest biking companies. Recently, they developed their own biking company, La Dolce Via for Mountain Travel Sobek.

In addition to MTS’s current walking trips in Tuscany, Umbria, Italy’s Lake District, and Provence, a series of biking tours in Burgundy, Provence, Dordogne, and the Loire Valley have been developed for the new division. The tours are five to six days in length and include 25-35 miles of cycling per day. Some tours are over level terrain and are easily managed by anyone in reasonably good shape. La Dolce Via also offers more challenging bike tours over rolling terrain, with a few long climbs. Walking trips include three to six hours of walking/hiking per day over rolling terrain.

Traveling by bike or on foot, participants will soak up each new place in the company of expert guides, exploring the area’s subtleties at an easy pace. And, naturally, each area’s fine wines and delicious cuisine will also be sampled. Each trip has been designed to offer an authentic culinary experience, an exploration of the subtle nuances and flavors that make that region unique. And after a day of cycling or walking, participants will relax in charming hotels, villas, or inns chosen for their character, comfort, cuisine, and location.

“La Dolce Via reflects the Mountain Travel Sobek commitment to quality and excellent service while highlighting the way we travel,” said Massimo Prioreschi. “It’s the best of both worlds: the independence to explore at your own pace and the chance to share your discoveries with close companions and new friends. Travel is not just getting from A to B, but the series of adventures you experience along the way.”
