Grand Hyatt Bali
by Madelyn Miller

Bali. The sound of it is enough to free you mind, refresh your spirit and excite your curiosity. Grand Hyatt Bali makes it possible in an exotic paradise offering comfort, tranquility and indulgence. From here you can discover an island rich in culture, steeped in tradition and full of surprises. The magic of Bali is everywhere.

Like the fabled Balinese water palaces of old, Grand Hyatt Bali is a cluster of four ethnic villages set amidst an interlinking system of cascading waterfalls, landscaped gardens and lagoons that meander through 40 acres of lush tropical gardens in Nusa Dua.

The decor harks back to a colorful past where local wood carvings, intricate ikat pattern, painting depicting scenes from the Ramayana and traditional stone work abound.

Amidst the 40 acres of lush gardens, pools, cascades and a long stretch of white sandy beach, is an extensive array of recreational facilities to meet the demands of guests, whether they are avid sportsmen, sun worshippers or those who simply want to discover another facet of Bali.

For the active sportsman, facilities range from the Bay Club Fitness and Health Center to exciting watersport activities, from flood lit tennis courts to biking around the Nusa Dua area.

The Bay Club Fitness and Health Center features a state-of-the-art gymnasium with user friendly equipment, an aerobics studio, glassback squash courts with a trained staff who will guide and assist you in selecting exercises most suited to your fitness level. After a nice workout relax with a steam or dry sauna, try out the whirlpool or plunge into the pool and get a soothing massage in one of the six massage rooms, and sip native fruits at the juice bar.

For swimmers, there are a total of six pools at Grande Hyatt Bali to choose from. Glide smoothly down a 50 m waterslide to the River Pool. Let yourself be guided by the soft currents around the grottos, then slide down again to the Main Pool, a 120 m free-form pool situated just a step away from the beach.

But the water fun doesn't end there. Windsurfing, scuba diving lessons, paddle skis and catamaran sailing are available in the hotel. And the hotel can arrange parasailing, deep-sea fishing and scuba-diving excursions. On land there's volleyball, a jogging track, putting green and a championship golf course just minutes away.

Everyday, a set of activities is scheduled from morning until late afternoon and guests can join whatever activity that pleases them. A day's activity will start with some powerwalking or gentle morning exercises at the beach. Later on, guests may join the daily aerobics classes at the Bay Club, or master a new stroke at the Tennis Clinic, then relax with some games by the pool.

Discover another facet of Bali with one of the Fantasy Tours which can be arranged through the Resort Center: Trekking through the rice paddies of Karangasem at the foothills of Mount Agung. Bicycle tours to Singapadu, an astounding village of artisans, or to Tanah Lot and Mengwi. Experience waterskiing inside a volcano, or for the more adventurous, white water rafting in the River Agung. Or join Prince I Gusti Ng Urah Silagunadi for a spectacular Balinese dinner at the Royal Palace of Kerambitan.

So whether you are an avid sportsman, or just an onlooker, adventurous or curious, you'll find a wide variety of activities to fill you vacation with memorable experiences.

Bali is like a water jug that never goes dry. Every day it gives you something new. That's why it is one of the world's great treasures.
