THERE’S “TALL” FUN TO BE HAD IN PORTLAND
OpSail Maine 2000 from July 28th to July 31st
Portland Harbor will
host a variety of sailing vessels, including six of the world's finest
"tall ships," from July 28 through July 31. The event, entitled
"OpSail Maine 2000," includes entertainment, food, activities,
fireworks, a Parade of Sail, and vessel visits. An estimated 200,000 people are
expected to see some of the world's best-known square-rigged ships, including
the U.S. Coast Guard's Eagle, Argentina's Libertad and Brazil's Cisne Branco.
OpSail Maine 2000 is also a celebration of Maine's rich maritime heritage and
highlights the opening of the Maine Maritime Heritage Trail, which leads
visitors to the more than 200 historic vessels and other maritime history sites
around the state.
