Villa Vera Hotel & Racquet Club
The Villa Vera Hotel
& Racquet Club in Acapulco, Mexico officially reopened as a Raintree Resorts
International property, following a $2-million restoration. It's 68 distinctive villas, 15 swimming pools, two tennis
courts and 15 acres of landscaped grounds were made famous in the 1960s and 1970s, by hosting Hollywood
celebrities such as Elvis Presley, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor and Yul Brynner
The Villa Vera Hotel is singularly credited with establishing Acapulco as a 'jet-set'
destination.
"The Villa Vera Hotel & Racquet Club is a world-class property located in an exciting international destination,"
said Douglas Y. Bech, CEO of Raintree Resorts International. "We are truly honored to have had the
opportunity to restore this legendary resort to its original beauty, as well as provide additional contemporary
amenities and services that will once again place the Villa Vera among the world's most unique hotel experiences."
The History of Villa Vera
Villa Vera traces its history to the early 1950s when international entrepreneur, Carl
Renstrom, built its main house as a vacation retreat. Reinstrom added additional
villas as guesthouses and eventually convinced his friend and neighbor, Teddy Stauffer, into becoming caretaker of
the property in Reinstrom's absence.
Known as "Mr. Acapulco," Stauffer who is also famous for initiating the show of the legendary cliff divers in La
Quebrada, began inviting celebrities and world figures to visit Villa Vera. Subsequently Villa Vera became a
hideaway for the rich and famous and was frequented by Hollywood's most glamorous stars and world leaders.
The Villa Vera Hotel & Racquet Club is nestled in the cliffs of residential Acapulco alongside vacation villas of the 'rich
and famous.' Dedicated to personal service and guest comfort, the resort provides an intimate alternative to
large hotels. The restoration artfully maintains the integrity of the resort's original architecture and
interior design. Guests are assured a unique experience each time they visit The Villa Vera
because no two guest accommodations are exactly alike. Each of the resort's 68 villas is individually decorated for comfortable living.
The villas have terraces featuring dramatic views of Acapulco Bay, and many have private swimming pools. The
resort also features two clay tennis courts with night lighting and two lighted paddle ball courts. Contemporary
amenities such as air conditioning, satellite TV, coffee makers and in-room service bars have been added for
guest comfort. A full-service spa facility is scheduled to open in September of this year.
Dining is offered at Villa Vera's gourmet restaurant that is perched upon a hilltop with views of both the
resort's main swimming pool and Acapulco Bay. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring
continental cuisine. Guests may also enjoy room service in their villas 24 hours a
day. Rates for the Villa Vera Hotel & Racquet Club begin at $150 per night, per villa. Reservations may be booked by calling
1-888-554-2361.
