WINTERFEAST: GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT
Fine wine, scrumptious food and a gastronomical
education in a breathtaking mountain environment can mean only one thing: It's
time for the annual Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort WinterFeast.
The Eighth Annual Snowbird WinterFeast, Dec. 1-3, 2000,
celebrates fine wines, food and the artisans who create them. With a focus on
both education and fun, the annual four-day event draws some of the country's
most inspired chefs and industry experts. Every year, Utah locals as well as visitors from all over the world look
forward to the prospect of WinterFeast's roster of guest chef dinners, food and
wine seminars and cooking demonstrations, all set against the backdrop of
Snowbird's famous powder and world class terrain.
This year's WinterFeast (formerly known as WinterFest)
adds a new twist for culinary-inclined children. Saucy Grace & the Global
Café will expand WinterFeast's audience to children old enough to stir. Saucy's
contagious enthusiasm brings the fun of cooking to a level of juvenile bliss.
WinterFeast kicks off Friday, Dec. 1, with an opening
reception featuring the 40 WinterFeast wineries pouring their finest
accompanied by tasty hor d'oeurves. Friday's schedule also includes two guest
chef/winery dinners to start the weekend off right.
Saturday at Snowbird includes prodigy Joshua Wesson -
back again by popular demand - on food and wine pairing. Tapping into the
latest Tuscan titillation, this year's WinterFeast offers a "Flavors of
Tuscany" seminar on Saturday by Dawn Gaudini of Winebow Imports. The
enormously popular Riedel Crystal stemware seminar is also scheduled for
Saturday as is the outdoor luncheon featuring Salt Lake City restaurants
combined with select WinterFeast wineries.
Confirmed chefs and presenters include: Joseph Manzare,
chef/owner, Globe restaurant, San Francisco; Traci Des Jardins, chef/owner,
Jardiniere restaurant, San Francisco; Joshua Wesson, co-founder/co-CEO Best
Cellars wine stores; Don Restivo, VP Riedel Crystal of America; Fred Dame,
Master somelier and Seagrams Americas' VP of Prestige Accounts; John Larchet,
founder of Australian Premium Wine Collection; Dawn Gaudini, Winebow Inc. VP of
Sales Mountain Region; Michelle Lozuaway, creater of the Global Café.
Escaping to Snowbird for the annual food and wine
festival is as simple as a phone call. Packages are available that combine
