THE WOLFSONIAN HAS DESIGNS TO IMPRESS YOU
The Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami Showcases the History of
Design
Located in the heart of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District,
The Wolfsonian—FIU was founded in 1986 to promote the collection, preservation
and understanding of art and design from the period 1885-1945.
The only collection of its kind in North America, the
museum holds more than 70,000 objects — including furniture, decorative arts,
industrial design, paintings, sculpture, architectural models and books — that
provide rich evidence of the dramatic cultural, political and technological
changes that swept the globe in the century preceding World War II.
In 1997, the museum joined the state’s public education
system as a division of Florida International University. Their membership
offers you year-round access to exhibitions, academic activities and public
programs that investigate the ways in which design shapes and reflects human
experience.
The Wolfsonian is located at 1001 Washington Avenue on
Miami Beach.
